Gregory Taylor is an educator and consultant presently employed with the Marietta City Schools in Marietta, Georgia. Born and raised in the small racially segregated town of Laurel, Mississippi, he received his secondary education at R. H. Watkins High in Laurel. He continued his education at Jackson State University and received his Baccalaureate degree in Biology Pre-medicine in 1985. He received his Masters degree in Secondary Science Instruction and his Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University. After receiving his doctorate degree at the young age of 28, he taught several years in the college of education at Tennessee State University and the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center at Meharry Medical College.
He has spoken or lectured at many educational institutions and has been the invited speaker for many educational organizations. Dr. Taylor has an interesting background. Born into a single-parent home along with his three brothers, he had to struggle and adapt to a very hard life, a life that is credited with building his character, work-ethic and religious beliefs. From an early age he knew something was not quite standard with his family. This was even more engrained when people would treat his family differently. He and his three brothers were born to different fathers which was not well accepted within the community. This family background taught him he could not really depend on anyone but God and his immediate family. It also taught him the frailty of human character. His father did not take an active part in his life . Dr. Taylor's experiences growing up in Laurel, Mississippi sharpened his love of academics, religion and compassion for his fellowman. It is this compassion that drives him to write this book for the benefit of all that read its content.
Along with sharpening his mind, Dr. Taylor is a black belt in Shotokan Karate. He believes the Holistic or Gestaltic view of a man is the ultimate truth. He believes in balance as does Mother Nature herself. The balance between "Mind", "Spirit" and "Body" is crucial in building Manhood and Scholarship with the Perseverance to Uplift mankind. Scholarship Attainment and Christian Manhood is essential to building a moral society in which all must stay circumscribed with every man with the ultimate goal of building moral character.
